It follows the story of Jed Clampett, a poor mountaineer who, while hunting on his land, took and missed a shot which led to the discovery of a huge oil pool, black gold, in the swamp he owned in Tennessee. Jed sells his land for $25 million, whereupon his town sophisticate cousin Pearl convinces him the wealthy Los Angeles suburb of Beverly Hills might provide a suitable beau for his daughter Elly May and career opportunities for his wayward nephew Jethro Bodine. So they load up the old rattletrap truck and along with Duke, the family dog, they move to Beverly, complete with a rocking chair up top to house granny.
